The Nostalgic Charm of Street Fighter III: Third Strike on Dreamcast

As a gamer who has had the pleasure of experiencing Street Fighter III: Third Strike on various platforms, I have to say that my fondness for the game lies with its Dreamcast port. There's something about the late 90's feel that still resonates with me today.

I recently acquired a Retrotink 5x and haven't had a chance to play the PS2 version with my new setup yet. However, I do prefer the Dreamcast ports, which is why I picked up a Dreamcast in 2019 and was hooked from the start. The PS2 anniversary edition, on the other hand, is something that has always eluded me - I'm not quite sure why I didn't grab it when I had the chance.

As someone who missed out on the original Dreamcast release due to financial constraints during my college days, I can understand why some people might look down on playing retro games. But for those who grew up with Street Fighter III: Third Strike, there's a certain charm to reliving those memories with friends and a cold beer.

In fact, I have fond memories of playing the game with my friends in college, using the EX version, which was just as much fun as the original. And yes, some might say that we're old-fashioned for still enjoying the SF EX 3D games, but hey, why change what works?

The Saturn ports of the VS games and Vampire games were also incredibly enjoyable at the time, and I remember saving up my arcade coins to get home ports. Marvel VS Capcom was a visual spectacle, and it's no surprise that it remained popular for so long.

Fast forward to today, and I still enjoy revisiting Street Fighter III: Third Strike on my Dreamcast, reliving those memories of late-night gaming sessions with friends. It's a game that has aged remarkably well, and its nostalgic charm continues to captivate new generations of gamers.
